So far you can now browse and debug the source code for the following .NET Framework libraries:

  • .NET Base Class Libraries (including System, System.CodeDom, System.Collections, System.ComponentModel, System.Diagnostics, System.Drawing, System.Globalization, System.IO, System.Net, System.Reflection, System.Runtime, System.Security, System.Text, System.Threading, etc).
  • ASP.NET (System.Web, System.Web.Extensions)
  • Windows Forms (System.Windows.Forms)
  • Windows Presentation Foundation (System.Windows)
  • ADO.NET and XML (System.Data and System.Xml)

…with more to come.

With in-built debugging support in VS 2008, this is really going to improve developers’ understaning of the .NET framework and lead them all to write better applications. Yet another reason to make the switch to VS 2008!

Unfortunately I only came up with these two:

Quantasoft – http://www.qhs.sk/

This one is based in Czech republic and Slovak republic.

Pros: Supports .NET 1.x, 2.0 and 3.0 framework. Good for running basic ASP.NET applications.

Cons: Very very slow at times. Unstable. Free users are only allowed to run applications in a medium trust environment. Won’t support ASP.NET AJAX framework or any other third party controls/frameworks for that matter (I’m guessing since its a medium trust environment, the DLLs aren’t allowed to execute in the BIN folder).

VWDHosting – http://www.vwdhosting.net/

This service is provided by Microsoft.

Pros: Very stable, fast and reliable. Best one out of the two. Good support. Compatible with almost all kinds of third party controls/frameworks as long as they don’t violate their policy.

Cons: Can be used only for 30 days, after which they delete your account. 10 MB database limit.
